About the artist

Katie Blake is an artist, a librarian, and an all around Girl Friday who lives currently in Anchorage, Alaska.

Originally from Alaska (though not born there) she has lived in at least five other states and appreciates that, in the past, never having bought furniture means moves were easier to accomplish. She is fascinated by zines, artists’ books, emblemata, stick figures, outsider art, and very small nails.

Katie’s work tends to be figurative or at the very least conceptual with a bent towards personification. After college Katie was made heartily aware of how much more difficult it is to be an artist when you have no access to a studio, let alone a press and because of this her work grew smaller and tends to be made on an available table or floor.
